Fix for Metamask deep links not opening on Android

While developing Birbz for Android we ran into an issue where Metamask wouldn’t open deep links properly.

The issue is predominant on Android 12 but it may happen on any version and it affects Web3 apps/games which use Metamask deep links. Thankfully the fix is easy but a bit hard to find.

This was tested on Android 12, Metamask v. 5.6.0

Here’s how to fix it

1. Go to Settings -> Apps or alternatively search in Settings for Default app
2. Click on Choose default apps
3. Go to Opening links
4. Scroll down to Metamask, select it.
5. Make sure Open supported links is checked, click on Supported web addresses
6. Make sure all of them are checked or just metamask.app.link in the case for Birbz

That’s it, now deep links should properly open for your Android Web3 app/game.
